Golf Caddying
Working as a golf caddy taught me the importance of leadership through positivity, respect and professionalism. I learned how to communicate respectfully with golfers of all personalities while maintaining a positive attitude regardless if the golfer was friendly or not. I also learned that strong leadership is often shown through the way you treat others, carry yourself and support people around you.
Bridge The Gap
Volunteering at Bridge The Gap in Marin City taught me the value of empathy and adaptability. I worked with young children from diverse backgrounds, which helped me learn how to listen and understand different perspectives. Through organizing activities and providing support, I learned how to motivate others, foster a sense of community. This experience showed the importance of creating an inclusive environment for everyone.
Little League Umpiring
Umpiring Little League taught me how to maintain authority while creating a positive and supportive environment. I learned the importance of staying calm under pressure and making quick/fair decisions, while also communicating clearly. The experience helped me learn how to make sure that everyone felt respected and valued, creating a safe and enjoyable experience for young athletes.
Working for Marin Baseball/ Launchpad
While working at Marin Baseball I was responsible for guiding young athletes, helping them develop their skills, and ensuring they stayed motivated throughout the camp. This experience taught me how to lead by example, build strong relationships with the campers, and adapt my coaching style to meet the needs of each individual, while creating a fun and educational environment for all.
Photo Editor
Being the Photo Editor taught me how to lead through communication and initiative. I was responsible for making sure every article had strong visuals, which meant I often had to reach out to staff members and take control of situations where strong photos were needed to improve the paper. I learned how to manage responsibilities under tight deadlines as often times I was in a tight time crunch hitting the requirements. This role showed me the importance of being dependable and stepping up when the team is counting on you.
Games Editor
Being the Games Editor taught me how important creativity is. I worked to create engaging content that would capture readers’ attention while still fitting within the overall structure of the publication. This role pushed me to think differently, come up with new ideas and solve problems creatively under deadlines. I learned that strong leaders are able to bring fresh energy and innovation to a team.
